An office with art on the walls
The first art project to be realized for U-TURN also constitutes the physical environment of the organization. This, a permanent installation in the U-TURN office by Romanian artist Dan Perjovschi, is a signature example of his work.
Perjovschi's art, a mixture of editorial cartooning and graffiti, is applied directly on the walls of the exhibition situation. Thus Perjovski relates his work directly to the space, architecture, and national context of the exhibition.
His drawings frequently comment on the current political, social and cultural situation, often with direct reference to the specific country or place in which he is exhibiting.
Perjovschi's current exhibitions include "Project 85" at MoMA in New York (until the 27th of August). He has recently exhibited "Footnotes on Amnesia, Geopolitics and …" at the Moscow Biennial as well as "…." at the 52nd Venice Biennial.

"My drawings look spontaneous, but they are not. I draw 2 or 3 full notebooks for each project. In each book I do around 150 drawings. Out of the 150 I choose
about 30 that goes on the wall. From that 30 about 5 will remain in my repertoire. The repertoire are the 'universal' drawings my virtual data base of stories, issues and topics describing the
world I live and witness.
It looks as if I do the same work over and over again, but every time is a new work. I redraw about 40% of the drawings but the rest are brand new and connected to the place and to the time of the actual project.
I transport my drawings from one wall to another. If it is erased in New York is showing up in Paris. The wall is repainted in Santiago de Chile but not in Copenhagen. Gone in Amsterdam, opened in Frankfurt. Big museums, small artist-run spaces, lobbies, offices, windows, concrete floors, black walls.
I keep my drawings alive hence I keep the topics in the discussion.
Temporary drawings made with permanent markers."
